We thought we'd do a little refresher on what it is we do around here. The Local Flower Collective is a business to business hub for local growers to sell their flowers to our florist members. We also do weddings and subscriptions to give access to local flowers for the general public. All the flowers and foliage we sell to our members and use in our designs are grown by our grower members in a 200 km radius of our Toronto studio. These are all field-grown flowers, which means exactly what it sounds like: grown outside, in a field! Because of our climate the growing season is typically from May - October. Field-grown, also means Mother Nature is in charge. Field-grown flowers have their own personality. They all vary a bit from one bloom to the next. Just like people, they're all different and unique which, in our opinion, makes them infinitely more interesting! We believe local is better for a variety of reasons but namely because they are better for the planet: no travelling great distances, no excessive pesticide and herbicide use, and no single use plastics.
