It was everything we planned, re-planned and longed for, and then so much more. Somerset Maugham wrote, ‘We are not the same persons this year as last; nor are those we love. It is a happy chance if we, changing, continue to love a changed person.’ And this, the continuing to love a changing person, has happened to us over the last 12 years. But unlike Somerset Maugham, I don’t think this was just by chance - it has been by choice and by working hard at our relationship, that as we have changed, we have changed together and the doing so has brought us closer and more in love.
