ONE: As soon as you can after waking, go outside to get at least 15 minutes of direct natural light. Light helps to set our circadian clock! There is also further evidence that exposure to light, during the day – particularly in the morning – is beneficial to your health overall such as improving mood, alertness and metabolism.
TWO: Exercise has been proven to help improve sleep for many people. Aim for 30 minutes or more of continuous movement at least 5 times per week.
THREE: Studies have also shown that eating breakfast (versus skipping a morning meal) improved the onset of sleep and overall sleep quality. A balanced breakfast of protein, fiber and healthy fats also supports energy levels, gut health and blood sugar balance.
