It's Trans Awareness Week! 💙🤍💗 We asked our excellent trainers for their top tips on how workplaces can be more inclusive for trans employees and here's what they said. Text reads: 1. "Trans Awareness Week. Here are our top recommendations for how workplaces can be more inclusive for trans people." 2. "When hiring new staff, ensure all trans candidates who meet the minimum criteria are guaranteed an interview." 3. "Have an inclusive sick leave policy. Trans employees may need time off for surgery or medical appointments - they are also statistically more likely to suffer from mental health problems. Having a separate sickness policy for trans related healthcare enables trans people to not be disproportionately affected by 'poor attendance'." 4. "Make it standard practice to ask people's pronouns, have staff put their pronouns in email signatures and supply pronoun badges for your team." 5. "Establish non-gendered dress code policies. Many workplaces have casual dress codes which enable staff to present as they choose. If a dress code is mandatory, uniforms should have multiple options (including gender neutral ones) and allow trans staff to wear gendered clothing that is affirming to them." 6. "Having a flexible work from home policy allows trans staff to do their work to the best of their ability when they're feeling dysphoric and don't feel comfortable in public.
