Your glutes are made up of 3 muscles, glute maximus, medius & minimus. Iβve done a lot of recent posts on glute max/med & had a few people asking what about minimus so here you go. ππΌ
Glute minimus is the smallest and deepest muscle of the 3. Itβs primary function is similar to that of your glute med with hip abduction & stabilisation.
It is best worked with exercises where you are moving your leg directly straight out to the side of your body. You will also recruit some glute med also.
Here are 4 hip abduction exercise variations:
1. Cable abduction
2. Rotary hip machine
3. Side lying abduction
4. Band abduction
