And of course a huge shoutout to the brilliant @roksanapirouzmand who graduated from UCLA’s MFA program just a couple months before having her first solo exhibition! We can’t wait to see what incredible things this one accomplishes. . Here she is performing Tapping, Rocking, Remembering at Murmurs. Over 800 strands connect to 400 ceramic casts of the artist’s grandmother’s finger. As she rocks, they lift up to reveal a painting on clay of an old family photograph taken in Iran. . A constant tap on the past that fills up the present giving volume to the absence imprints and reverberates through generations, remembering, melancholy, the past and its ties to the present. — Roksana Pirouzmand .
