✨REJECT hyper-consumption and a fast-paced trend cycle— instead, SUBVERT trend culture to focus on creativity and personal style.✨⁣ ⁣ Let’s not ignore the elephant in the room— although fashion week is a beautiful time to spotlight the work of brilliant designers, it can also reinforce problematic notions of how fashion “should” be consumed, specifically around trends (which, in turn, fuels fast fashion). ⁣ ⁣ Here are my words of advice to consume trends responsibly this fashion week: ⁣ ⁣ GO SECONDHAND— whether that’s shopping at your local thrift store, swapping with a friend, or supporting platforms like @VestiaireCo where you can buy + sell secondhand fashion.⁣ ⁣ UPCYCLE! Waste is a tremendous issue in fashion, so think about the ways you can upcycle, or wear designers that actively upcycle as a part of their design process. Which brings me to the last tip; ⁣ ⁣ SUPPORT THE SUSTAINABLE UNDERDOGS doing things right: from ethical labor standards, environmentally conscious textiles, to small-scale production. These are the fashion vanguards we need to support. ⁣ ⁣ How do you consume trends responsibly?
