The Open-Call aims to select 20 creatures to participate to the Free Workshop coordinated by artist and performer Muna Mussie @mussiemuna, as part of SPRINT's participation to Milano Re-Mapped Festival hosted by @pirelli_hangarbicocca. The Workshop is open to people of any age and background, who want to confront a dimension in which the single gesture, posture, movement, relates to the whole of bodies, in a public performance context. No specific physical preparation required. The Workshop will take place on July 9th and 10 at Pirelli HangarBicocca, before the final performative moment on Monday July 11th, which will enliven the festival evening. During the two-days workshop, the group dialogue will be developed around the practice of a choral movement, starting from the experience of the 'summer school' of Monte Verità [Ascona, Canton Ticino], inaugurated in 1913 by Rudolf Laban and Mary Wigman, with the participation of, among others: Isadora Duncan, Suzanne Perrottet and the interdisciplinary artist Sophie Taeuber-Arp, the connecting figure between dance, art and publishing with her entire output in the Dada movement. The 'summer school' was one of the moments when the foundations for modern dance was laid, housed in a special place that, in the late 1800s and early 1900s, gave birth to an experiment in utopian community founded on artistic and philosophical expression and the liberation of the body, in a spirit of respect and coexistence among more or less animated life forms. The interdisciplinary work of Muna Mussie [Eritrea, 1978], between gesture, vision and word, investigates the languages of stage, performing arts and visual arts to shape the tension that is triggered between different expressive poles. Muna Mussie's work has been presented in different national and international contexts.
