Fit for a queen or... twelve. A hilltop redoubt in Jaipur, Amber Fort is a stunning mix of Hindu and Mughal architecture. Built over a fifteen year period by Raja Man Singh and completed in 1599, the fort housed twelve chambers for each of his queens— a secret staircase connecting them to his bedroom. Over the years, other rulers added to the sprawling marble and red sandstone palace with ramparts, gates and cobbled paths. Afterward, dine at 1135 AD, on dishes that take inspiration from the recipes of royal palace cooks throughout time.
