This morning's eclipse🌙
I've been looking forward to this celestial event for quite some time and got super lucky with the weather and the gaps in the clouds! The eclipse occurred from about 1am to about 7am and my goal was to try and document its entirety. I had to camp out the gaps in the clouds and battle cold winds to make this work. I'll try to create a composite of all stages at some point📈
I might've also missed peak by a minute or two as different sources reported a range from 4:03am to 4:07am. It looked indistinguishable to the naked eye through binoculars. The wind also made long exposures incredibly difficult as the lens' large surface area took the wind's full force. If I shielded myself with the side of the house wall then the moon was out of frame so I resorted to using an SUV and my body to try and keep the wind from shaking the camera. About every 3rd photo came out sharp if I was lucky🌬
Now back to my nap😪
📷: single shot; a7iii & FE 200-600mm lens. Taken at 600mm // f/6.3 // 0.5seconds // iso 640 // exposure adjustments made in LR. I used the 1.4x TC for other stages of the eclipse but it was really difficult getting a clean exposure during peak as light was at an absolute minimum and the difference between f/9 vs f/6.3 wasn't worth the compromise of simply taking digital crop.
