“we are all messy and tired” is out now on all the platforms in my bio link click thing.
It’s been 2 years of recording, and 4 years if you count writing. These songs have been a cathartic and a somewhat therapeutic escape from the actual idea of therapy for me. they began to take shape in the darkest place of my life. I was looking for a way out, while also fearing the way out. Fritz and I spent a lot of time holed up and pushing people away, but as time went on, the more I dumped in to these, it all started to make a bit sense. Within yelling at you in these songs, we found a sense of peace and realized that sometimes you do have to kill yourself to find your way again. I’m still scared shitless to share these songs and I should go back to therapy. regardless, special thanks are in order below.
Thank you endlessly to Kyle Blatchford for being along for the ride. There are memories from this that I will cherish forever. Whether its you making up a guitar tuning to a chord progression in my childhood bedroom, buying your 1 millionth new pedal to play something very lovely, but also kind of raunchy, or quite simply just telling me you like the wine I bought. I will always appreciate the stamp Kyle left on these songs and the sometimes drunken yelling nights we had together. kyle was the devil on the shoulder that helped me own my shit a bit more.
Last but not least, a giant warm thank you to Sofia Heftersmith for providing the album artwork. When I showed her iterations of these songs to paint to some odd months ago, they were messy and I was unsure of what was in or out or what I wanted this to be. I full heartedly believe that she saw these songs through in a way that I hadn’t yet. You are a once in a lifetime artist and I am beyond grateful that you shared your work on this album. It was very special to finish this puzzle with your work right there to inform it.
Thank you and my rambling is done ❤️❤️❤️
