"Live music is a living creature. It is essential for humans. It's powerful and primitive because we share time and space. People call it energy, but... it's more of a physical matter. If we can find something together it will have a healing power." - Miho Hatori We couldn't be more thrilled to have Miho (@mihohatori) back at MoMA PS1 for the final edition of Summer Fridays. Miho blessed the Warm Up stage in 2000 and 2014, and returns this week with a sound blending cosmic ballads with playful hip-hop, and integrating genres from Sufi music to chopped-and-screwed. You may know her work as part of the NYC alternative rock band Cibo Matto (@officialcibomatto), or her collaborations with artists ranging from the Beastie Boys (@beastieboysstory) to Handsome Boy Modeling School (@hbms_official), from Smokey Hormel to John Zorn (@jonzornmusic). Miho's work delves into issues of identity, belonging, and technology—her 2021 album "Between Isekai and Slice of Life" drew inspiration from the wildly popular anime Demon Slayer, exploring the series' cult status with children. ⬆️ Check out Miho’s song “Tokyo Story.” Grab a ticket to jam to her set, along with Slauson Malone (@thatboiakathatboi) and Zariiina (@zariiina000) at the link in our bio this ✨Friday✨ Aug 26 from 5-9 pm.
