One of the newest @woodenwallsproject murals symbolically marks this day in Asbury Park history ✨ Meet "Mora and her Morro Castle", by @ladyseawench located at the historic Carousel House. ✧ Mora was partly inspired by the 1961 film, Night Tide. The main character falls in love with a sideshow mermaid, name Mora. "Mora was also created, mostly, to shine some light on Asbury Park's history by remembering and honoring the tragedy of the Morro Castle. I thought that the bottle would be a perfect way to preserve the ship in all its glory- sailing on forever with Mora." -in the artists own words. ✧ This day marks the 88th anniversary of S.S. Morro Castle tragedy on a voyage from Havana, Cuba to New York. The ship caught fire and ended up on the shores of Asbury Park. On that day, 137 passengers and crew lost their lives 💙 ✧ See her in all her beauty next Friday, September 16th 6-9pm at the @woodenwallsproject art exhibit at the Carousel House.
