I’ve spent the last week in a state of anxiety that I’ve never experienced before. Laying awake at night, sick to my stomach at the thought of what’s happening right now. For the first time, I’m in a state of uncertainty that is completely out of my control. I’ve felt hopeless, watching this country fall into the hands of the corrupt. But now it’s more important than ever before to use our power and voices to take back control of our futures. It’s hard not feel helpless. But this isn’t the end. Today I’m not celebrating my country’s independence. I’m celebrating the millions of people who stand up for what’s right, and remind me we can make a change for the better.
