This summer a unique selection of photographer Ara Güler’s works are on view at Maçakızı, in partnership with the Ara Güler Museum. Shown together for the first time, the photographs depict his voyages in the 1960’s, capturing the essence and allure of Bodrum. About Ara Güler: Ara Güler (1928-2018) is considered to be one of the greatest photojournalists in the world. Greatly influenced by literature and cinema, Ara Güler began his career in journalism working for the newspaper Yeni İstanbul in 1950. He became a photojournalist for Time Life in 1956 and for Paris Match and Stern in 1958. Around the same time, he was introduced to the prestigious Magnum Agency, which distributed Ara Güler’s photographs in his lifetime and continues to do so today. The Ara Güler Museum and Ara Güler Archives and Research Center were established as a result of a partnership between Ara Güler and Doğuş Group. The museum in Bomontiada opened with Ara Güler’s participation on August 16, 2018, his 90th birthday.
