Over the years I’ve had many requests to reveal the contents of the record room that I’ve quietly declined. I’m just not into flossing the records I own as some sort of trophy especially when much of the music has been made by people who’ve fallen on hard times in later years. It’s a collection of music that I listen and dig through on the daily, a sonic diary of my time on earth to be handed down to my children and hopefully cherished and enjoyed for many more years to come. Legacy and archive have become increasingly important to me so being asked to be featured in the next edition of @dustandgrooves ticked the boxes of preservation. Black record collectors don’t get the props for our contribution to unearthing and sharing tunes particularly in the UK and I’m analogue over digital everyday so being in the physical archive of a book makes sense to my purpose and brain.
