IG vs. Reality Check: I had an amazing time in Atlanta for #SEPHORiA with some of beauty's best - doing glam, hosting masterclasses, and connecting with other creatives! There were moments of inspiration and excitement, and there were moments of self-doubt and overwhelm. Right before walking onto the stage to introduce @cynth_pop of @rarebeauty , she asked me if I still get nervous. The truth is, in the moment, I was feeling some self-doubt. I didn't love the first introduction I did that day and I was kinda in my head. I answered honestly, "yes, 100% I still get nervous." When she asked me this, it was a moment of vulnerability that I needed. I was feeling alone, like it was just me that gets nerves. It reminded me that we are all the same and that we all carry our own fears, anxieties, dreams.. I also had the honor of introducing @danessa_myricks of @danessamyricksbeauty for her masterclass. Prior to the session, we were chatting about the importance of standing up for ourselves professionally, and Danessa mentioned that she listened to an episode of my podcast @thebeautymanifest . TBH, I am still in awe that people are listening, especially people that I so respect and admire. I've been letting go of imposter syndrome for a while now and this exchange reminded me to stop getting in my own way 🙏🏼 I've said it once, I'll say it again - It's easy to look at curated, glamorous photos on social media and to feel less than. It's easy to look at someone else walking onto stage with confidence and feel self-doubt. So, here's a reminder that we are all simply human. We are all the same. And the more we can be vulnerable with eachother, the more we can have confidence in ourselves and instill it in others. So thank you, @cynth_pop , for being vulnerable enough to simply ask that question. And thank you @danessa_myricks for always sharing your personal growth and for your love and support.
