Design Story: My first PUMA project once Covid hit in late April 2020 was to go identify artists for the PUMA Run/Train team. Specifically, artists that could visually communicate women's running and training attributes: energy, strength, fitness, speed, courage, adventure, edgy, success, failure. Show and celebrate women's empowerment and purpose. I spent a few weeks (per my usual process using my art friends and burner IG account 😂) exploring artists and designers who I felt had an incredible POV, personal-purpose, and visual fit with the PUMA brand. I created a 'short list' of about eight artists. I came back to PUMA in June with the brilliant, @_maggiestephenson_ . Maggie has not only accomplished so much through her illustrations and artwork (both as an artistry and as a commercial success), but she is arguably the most kind and sincere artist that I have ever worked with. Her work is globally known for being inclusive, communal, empowering, calming, and extremely recognizable. She has worked with Urban Outfitters, FreePeople, Anthropologie, and Elle Magazine. Maggie and I developed a wonderful friendship. She has supported my work since we met two years ago. She has supported me during my Art Basel activities and I would always watch out for her work in other places including those that tried to steal it. I could not be more of a fan and supporter of her. That is why seeing the two-year friendship and business partnership culminate in today's release is so fulfilling and rewarding to me. Her PUMA Women's Collection debuts today and looks absolutely incredible. I hope it makes everyone who wears the pieces feel as good as I do when I see and catch up with Maggie. She is so much of this collection. She should be a role model to all creatives that want to build things with intention and kindness. I 🖤🖤🖤 Maggie.
