Due to climate change with hotter temperatures, drought, fires etc- 1 in 3 tree species are going extinct. That means we really have to figure out how we are going to save seeds in the future for trees and other crops worldwide. And to do that we are going to need THOUSANDS of “seed banks” which are little libraries full of diverse seeds that come from a specific region/ area of the world. We are going to rely heavily on seed banks to protect future biodiversity which we as humans ultimately depend on for our survival as well!
