As I spend more time working within seagrass beds, I find myself continually returning to the concept of ‘Enoughness.’ Restoring our planet’s carbon-sequestering ecosystems is critical to reducing the amount of carbon trapped in the atmosphere. However, restoring carbon sinks does not give us a free pass on pumping CO2 into the air. We must reduce and stop emissions to fully restore balance to our planet, starting with the way we treat and think of material wealth. Far too many of us are utterly consumed by keeping up with the latest iPhone model or sporting some fashion trend that will end up in a landfill by the next season– and yet we are still left unfulfilled.
