Love was why Mint Condition asked, "Can You Stand The Rain?' We witnessed it when death was waiting, in the end. But they still died in love. Black people have always chosen to love rather than die. Black love has always thrived, even when it had a slim chance of survival. The beautiful thing about the end of Queen & Slim was that they got the chance to fall in love before their death. So, in the end, love did win. Even if it's dangerous and unrealistic, creativity is the space that preserves room for romance and allows it to stretch as far as it needs to. Black love has, historically, thrived when it could get in trouble.
