a couple of weeks ago marked my completion in this year’s Hillman Grad Mentorship Lab. and y’all... I am so fucking proud of myself. And I don’t say that shit enough or sit in that feeling, but I really am. I chose to step into my passion. Say yes to pursuing the thing I knew I was always meant to do. And I gave that shit my fucking all— my time, my mind, my heart. And I’m so proud of the script I was able to write these last 8 months and where’s it already taking me. ⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ it really took a whole village and I have the most immense and abundant gratitude for our writing mentor @brokeyolk, acting mentors @that_carolynmichelle and @behzaddabu (who maybe made me want to get into directing the way they delivered those acting notes 👀), for @lenawaithe believing programs like this, for US are necessary and possible, for @alwaysbewright, @withcreators and the @hillmangradfoundation fam who made that shit HAPPEN, for my fellow mentees who inspired and stretched me, for motherfucking @mrandypark for being the best exec and creative partner I could’ve ever asked for and for the most beautiful, talent table read cast who bodied bringing my pilot to life for a night. ⁣ ⁣ my life TRULY has changed because of this program. more good things to come on the horizon! until then, we write on!
