EMMYS 🏆Teamwork makes the DREAM work & GREAT things happen when you least expect it. ✨💫 It feels so surreal and full circle. I never would have I imaged would be standing celebrating alongside my closet friends as EMMY AWARD WINNERS ! When @yasmindar (a sister to me) called to tell me that @rktmediahawaii was nominated for an Emmy Award, I had NO idea she meant this nomination also included me! I was just so excited & honored to go to SF to attend the Emmys to help style and glam some of my closest friends for the red carpet! It truly brings me so much joy to see my all friends / clients win & shine! We were nominated for a video we filmed called “The Journey Home” shot during the pandemic for the @alohaunitedway . Written and directed by @nikkim808 and produced by @ryankalei and @yasmindar about an inspiring story of a single dad of 4, who with the services and help of @alohaunitedway was able to come out of adversity. I was brought on to do & style “All the Things” in the visual arts departments: Key Hair & Makeup , Special FX Makeup, Wardrobe Stylist to create character costumes & be in the film. This was shot during the pandemic just few months into the Covid shutdown. Like most people in the production “freelancer/independent contractor business.” Everything stopped for us in 2020. I was just grateful for any kind of work! Truth is this story spoke to me & truly resonated with my current situation. As a single mom, I was scared & so desperate for work. I didn’t know what I was going to do & how I was going to make it to the next month. I had no income , no work, no PPE loans, no workman’s comp, no backup plan . Hailey had to go live with my mom most of that year, while I rationed meals & worked on whatever I could to stay positive and do what I needed to do get by. This shoot was “my saving grace” that truly helped me & Hailey that year. It was my only 2020 job . After that, I too was able to get some assistance through an agency during the pandemic. Thank you to @yasmindar @ryankalei @rktmediahawaii ohana . I am so proud us! I am forever grateful. Lets keep moving upward and onward & creating inspiring stories! ✨
