2/2 The second song we released today is Hourglass. Ryan wrote this one too, PLUS he absolutely smashes it singing the lead, PLUS it’s amazing, so yes, today is officially unofficially RY BOY DAY 🧑🏼‍🦱. Big thanks to John Congleton for producing and mixing this track, he is a true talent and he thought I was funny so for those equally important reasons I will love him forever. And again thanks to Public Library for the amazing visuals, as always. This is one of my favorite Local Natives songs we’ve ever made. I of course have love for all our songs, but some songs just achieve an unspoken, cosmic energy, and having done this for 18 years I can feel it when it’s there. Our mission is to use our strengths as writers, musicians, and singers to achieve something more than 5 humans in a room. Shooting for that can be exhausting and extremely challenging, but it’s days like this that make it all worth it. You can’t force that energy, you can only behold it in awe and reverence when it chooses to appear. All that to say... Happy Ry Boy Day 🧑🏼‍🦱.
