Today I celebrate 11 years in business as the owner and founder of @madisoneatsfoodtours. 🎊 🍾 🎉 I’ve learned some things along the way as a solopreneur that I thought I’d share with you in case you find it helpful. What advice would you give entrepreneurs? In no particular order: 1. It’s OK to follow a trend but it’s even better to lead a trend. Don’t be afraid to innovate and stand out. 2. Who cares what anyone thinks (as long as it’s not hurting someone)? We’re literally a speck in the universe. 3. If you can imagine it it can happen. I started Madison Eats when food tours were a new concept. People asked me what a food tour was and I said “let’s figure this out together.” 4. Use the resources around you. I applied for grants, mentorship programs, free conferences, went to the UW marketing department, talked to business owners, you name it. I hired where I didn’t have the time or knowledge. When you can, give back to your community. 5. It never hurts to ask for what you need. The worst that can happen is somebody says no. Don’t give up. Someone will say yes. 7. If you can, try not to go into debt for your business. I’m some cases that’s impossible, but don’t be afraid to start small, build slowly and dream big. 8. Celebrate your successes, and learn from your struggles. 9. Know when it’s time to change course. It’s okay to change your mind, your vision, your business relations and your personal relations to continue to grow. 10. Take care of yourself, so you can take care of your business. Be kind to yourself and others. What advice has helped you and would you share with other entrepreneurs? . . . . . #celebration #solopreneur #womanownedbusiness #businesswoman #mentorclub #solotraveler #businesswomanlife #entrepreneur #celebratelife #madisoneatstours #otehliatravels #celebratethelittlethings #dreambig #bebold #kindnessmatters #diversitymatters #businessadvice #eatthatcake
