It’s hard to fully express what Saturday night meant to me. Even though only Carolina saw it, I was overwhelmed with emotion and damn near cried before doors were even open, when we all went on stage during soundcheck to marvel at where we were. It struck me how far we’ve come, from the first interview I did with Ben in the dank basement at 228 1/2 Boerum St to performing at one of the most legendary theaters in the world. Then, to have the privilege to perform (and dance!) with my wife on stage for the first time was an experience like none other I’ve ever had, exhilarating and beautiful. Finally, doing a reunion of Round Table, the show that started it all, after years of not performing with them, feeling as natural as if we’d never missed a Sunday, was a joy all it’s own, if a little bittersweet. And on top of it all, to have family involved, my cousin Liz on fiddle killing it with her band all night, made it that much more special. I love each and every person who was on stage that night, and I want to thank them all for taking a chance twelve years ago in deciding to work with some weirdo hick in a cellar who only wanted to do more radio.
