#ad 💀These mini skull cakes are the perfect way to celebrate Día de los Muertos! I am honored to collaborate with @Lodgecastiron to celebrate their new Skull Mini Baking Pan. You might have seen my Spiced Mexican Chocolate Cake Sugar Skulls on their Instagram or website. 🍋🍋🍋These light and fluffy mini cakes have a delectably tangy lemon flavor from a triple threat of lemon juice, lemon zest, and lemon extract. Día de los Muertos is a holiday I look forward to every year. It’s a great way to reflect and remember all the happy memories of your departed loved ones. You don’t have to visit their gravestone to do this! You can celebrate and honor them in your home with these delicious Lemon Cake Sugar Skulls. 💀🌸🏵️🌺🌼Just like carving pumpkins for Halloween or making gingerbread houses for Christmas, making sugar skulls for Day of the Dead, or Día de Muertos, is a form of Mexican folk art. Sugar skulls are traditionally very colorful and whimsical—not scary. These lemon mini skulls are easy to decorate — you don’t need fancy piping skills. I simply dusted some with powdered sugar and store-bought writing gel, then decorated them with edible cupcake toppers, sprinkles, and flowers. You can also simply eat them plain with a cup of Mexican hot chocolate or Cafecito. Head over to my blog for the complete lemon cake recipe and visit lodgecastiron.com to buy this Seasoned Cast Iron Skull Mini Cake Pan and find more sugar skull decorating tips.
