Georgia O’Keeffe lived in Abiquiu’s Chama Valley for 42 years, and what a colorful & enriching life she must have had! Within the walls of this 7000’ sq ft adobe hacienda, Ms O’Keeffe painted strong Southwestern images, sculpted Modernist pieces, cultivated an expansive and well-organized herb garden and many fruit-bearing trees, raised chow dogs, dried, canned and cooked her own, what appeared to be, culinary-driven meals & entertained an occasional artist, photographer & dignitary. Driving a Model A Ford around the Valley, perhaps up the dirt road to Ghost Ranch was, as some would say, the only thing she did not do to perfection... though she was fearless!
