Idaho City is a gem of a city, literally. Gold was originally discovered here in 1862 and it quickly became the biggest city in the Pacific Northwest. Over 150 years later, the city is a little less bustling and a lot more cute and cozy.
My husband and I had the most perfect date night. With Idaho City being only 40 minutes away from Boise, it was the easiest drive.
Highlights for us included:
✨ A visit to The Springs. A luxurious hot springs experice, where we had a private pool hidden away. We enjoyed a beautiful mediterranean plate as well as home made macaroni and cheese that was so cheesy I’m still dreaming about it. My favorite might have been the classic huckleberry lemonade though. Having a cool drink to sip while we soaked in the warm water was perfect. For those who don’t care about privacy or those who have kids, the bigger pool is the way to go. It’s big enough that even when there are 20 or 30 people in it, the overall relaxation and experience is still enjoyable.
✨We stayed the night at Inn the Pines and enjoyed the rustic yet clean hotel. The shower was huge and newly renovated. The wooden touches throughout the room made me feel like I was in a cozy cabin. They even had a fun book on the history of Idaho City available in the room to browse through and the staff was great!
✨Lastly, we had to stop at The Sarsaparilla Ice Cream Parlor. They make a delicious sarsaparilla drink (essentially a “cowboys rootbeer”) that is fun to try! The ice cream looked amazing but I stuck with the classic sarsaparilla and can recommend it to anyone wanting an ice cold refreshing drink.
