Happy Friday indeed for us today! We would like to express our sincerest gratitude for a magnificent review by @bill_addison @latimesfood of Kuya Lord’s very first brick-and-mortar!
We have worked so hard since 2020 when we were still cooking food in our house garage in La Cañada .... where people can only see us in action from behind the black mesh screen door by the driveway. Yes, that was the time when people were all masked up, paranoid, and worried when will everything go back to normal.
Fast forward to 2022, we are pleasantly surprised that we were able to surpass it all and here we are now approaching our 5th month from the date we officially opened our restaurant in Melrose.
It was so refreshing to read this article which narrates our humble beginnings and reminds us of Bill’s previous article from 2021 which provided the community with a nice introduction to our food and culture as well as our restaurant concepts and goals.
“The last decade had seen an ascendance of Filipino cuisine in restaurants locally and nationally. Llera stepped into the arena as a gripping new expressionist of Filipino cooking — a talent whose time had arrived.” ~ Bill Addison
As one of the small businesses in Los Angeles, we are indeed grateful to restaurant critics, food writers, fellow chefs, and all our loyal customers for always believing in us and for sharing our story which inspired and continue to inspire a lot of people who are now truly proud of what we have accomplished thus far.
Again, thank you all for your love and support. Maraming salamat po! 🙏🏼
