Everything they touch, do, say, feel turns into some form of magic! I’m thrilled to advance the organization’s mission, uphold our vision, and ensure that decisions reflect our values and the communities we serve alongside them. Our focus this year and in the coming years will centre on maximizing our collective efforts in the spirit of progress and equity—over maintaining status quo structures disciplined by a colonial archive of practices in the nonprofit “sector.” (What’s suitable for “philanthropy” was never really for us, anyway.) We know that the relationship between change and transformation rests on our ability to employ WILD and empathetic thinking. So together, we will be good listeners. We will be inquisitive and critical students. We will democratize and reallocate power and resources. We will be grounded in intersectional justice. We will be active in service. And not solely as board members—but also because we ARE a part of our communities and social identities. This board will be a place where we can congregate alongside our team and community members and share and learn together as neighbours. A place where we can strengthen the social, cultural, economic, political, and spiritual life of our priority communities.
