The chassis of the Porsche RS Spyder, together with the flange-mounted engine and transmission unit, acts as a load-bearing part of the vehicle. The monocoque is made of carbon fibre-reinforced plastic with integrated crash structures and safety fuel cell as well as the front crash structure (the vehicle's nose).
