Yesterday I participated in black out Tuesday. I did so because I believed it was helpful. But I have learned it may have done more harm than good. That it blocked vital information channels. If so, I apologize for my contribution. But apologies aren’t enough. A black tile isn’t enough. I want to be an ally, so I am pursuing the resources to educate myself, and examine my own biases and complacency. I’m going to push myself to fight and be smarter. I need to put my money where my mouth is. I need to work on uplifting, supporting, and amplifying black voices, artist, and activists. I heard a little while ago that charges have been brought against the other 3 officers involved in George Floyd’s murder. That’s a good step but nowhere near the end goal. The whole system is broken, the system is built on white supremacy. And it must be dismantled.
