The Stradivari G Form. The ‘Marsick’ of 1715 was built using the highly desirable G Form or Grand Pattern (MS No. 49) which is currently in the Museo del Violino in Cremona. The museum is a very special experience for any violin enthusiast showcasing Stradivari’s forms, tools, and templates and we highly recommend it if you ever find yourself in Cremona. In the second photo you see Garrett Becker’s own walnut wood G Form modeled on Stradivari’s own walnut form and created directly from the original violin itself while it was here for restoration in the past. The final photo shows John Becker and James Ehnes both holding Stradivari that were in the shop at the same time this month, the 1714 ‘Joachim’ built on the PG Form and the 1715 ‘Marsick’ built on the G Form respectively. These two forms were Stradivari’s most successful violin forms.
