You’ll need to see if surgery is an option right away for your best chance at making it past 5 years” Words I’ll never forget hearing a week after having a seizure at work. Brain cancer came into my life when I was 24. After a diagnosis like this your life fully erupts into appointments: CT's, MRI's, neurology testing, meeting doctors, scheduling surgeries, talking treatment & the worst part for me: watching my loved ones all try to stay strong for me while also grieving the news themselves. Patients diagnosed with brain tumors immediately have their whole life flipped upside down, with still some of the worst prognosis' in oncology history. Many cancers can be completely removed along with the diseased organ but cancer in the brain is tricky. I'm blessed to have a good prognosis all things considered. Unfortunately there are still too many diagnosed with this horrible disease, that do not. I want to see that change in my lifetime. May is national brain cancer awareness month.
