Posted @withregram • @cristearoberts Paula Rego 1935 – 2022 It is with immense sadness that we announce the death of the Portuguese-born, British artist Dame Paula Rego at the age of 87. She died peacefully this morning, after a short illness, at home in North London, surrounded by her family. Our heartfelt thoughts are with her children, Nick, Cas and Victoria Willing, and her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. “Paula Rego was a phenomenal artist. From a very young age she pursued her own path, creatively and in life. She was enormously independent, spirited and determined. Her ground-breaking works in painting, drawing and printmaking are direct and urgent. Consistently challenging the status quo, she will be remembered as one of the most important and influential artists from the past seventy years.
