In this month’s Vogue Arabia, I interviewed and photographed five people who made the UAE their home, by refusing to accept their circumstances and starting afresh. From a former waiter who now runs her own trading company and a laborer who climbed the corporate ladder, to the sacred journey of two adoptive parents who traveled 72 hours to find their son in a foreign land - these extraordinary stories of new beginnings remind us what it means to be truly human.
