Pumpkin Spice has a stranglehold on the season, but today I was inspired by Halloween bonfires and Canadian hardcore to create this Smoked Salt Maple Latte. Just place two tsp of maple syrup and a tiny pinch of smoked sea salt in your mug, top it with espresso and steamed nondairy milk, and then drizzle with more syrup and another tiny pinch of salt. Today I’m using @torquecoffees Espresso Drop, which has a really nice sweet, fruity flavor on its own. Plus, it’s a woman-owned,, woman-roasted coffee that developed a pricing model called Proportional Pricing. Simply put, they pay coffee producers 20% of the retail price as opposed to allowing he commodity market to drive the price paid to suppliers down. In fact, when you look at the product page there’s a breakdown of the $20 retail price - $4 to the producers, $2.80 for export/import & logistics, $4 to roast, ship & pack (the packaging is all recycled, reusable, recyclable & compostable), $5.30 for operational costs and $4 profit. It’s a really cool way of doing business and an important way to think about commodities when you’re shopping for them. No shade, PSL, but I think Smoky Salted Maple is coming for your crown! *This post isn’t sponsored but I was gifted this espresso.
