Today marks yet another Dragon Boat Festival, landing on the fifth day of the fifth month on the Lunar calendar 🐉. Every year growing up, the day before leading up to this festival, I would be in the kitchen helping my mama prepare Zongzi, a traditional Taiwanese/Chinese sticky rice dish eaten during the Duanwu Festival. It’s stuffed with filling, wrapped into a triangular shape with Bamboo leaves, then steamed. For my family, Mama always stuffed it with braised pork belly, marinated egg, boiled seasoned peanuts, shitake mushrooms, and shrimp. The aroma when Zongzi was cooking was always incredible and forever ingrained into my memories. I miss my mama’s cooking so much. No one ever made these the way she did. Muse @y0129k 💕
