The reality of MAKEUP application. What does this mean? When we look at images of celebrities or models on Instagram they have had an artist spend probably close to in some cases over 3 hours create a look for their selfie. In a perfectly lit room, with a huge makeup station (some days I might not even have a table if on location with a bride 🫠) they have every product they could ever want, and I love this it’s fabulous but it’s not the reality of every artist. They also face other challenges I’m sure in those settings. But.... When you really think about the detail that can go into a single look in 3 hours it’s actually insane alongside the fact that these celebs have every single method at their disposal to shape their features & skin to perfection it’s close to impossible to try and replicate so stop being so hard on yourselves as artists. If you work in an industry where you are completing back to back makeups and the standard is still beautiful and your clients are happy celebrate your skill because it’s really hard, todays standards are becoming impossible, set expectations with your clients, stay grounded. This makeup took an hour and half at a trial with perfect lighting in my studio with all products perfectly laid out and natural lighting, It’s not always so simple.
