that which we call a rose, by any other name would smell as sweet šŸŒ¹ā™„ļøšŸ’„ for this roundup, the theme is rose! these are some of my favorite rose fragrances—which covers a lot of ground, considering how versatile rose is. rose can be dewy, delicate, soft, and fresh, but rose can also be animalic, with a sticky honey facet. you can pull out its traces of citronella or lychee, you can build it into a chypre, or you can enhance its rich and jammy qualities. in fact, a rose in perfumery does go by many names, and each type of rose comes with its own terroir—there is the damask rose (also known as rosa damascena), the may rose (also known as rose centifolia or rose de mai), the moroccan rose, the egyptian rose... yes, all roses—but i think a perfume nerd would disagree with our juliet that all roses by any other name would smell as sweet. if you’re expecting portrait of a lady and you smell delina, you would surely know there’s something afoot. šŸ˜†šŸŒ¹ what’s your favorite rose fragrance? i lean mostly into fresh, green, dewy roses myself. i also love a citrusy rose! ā™„ļø
