Santa Monica Pier looking a little different back in 1972. Things of note: cars on the pier, fewer buildings (no Ferris wheel that’s for sure!), and the breakwater! Built in the early 30s, the breakwater provided a shelter for small boats and yachts for decades until storm surges in 1983 destroyed it. I think I heard rumblings that it was going to be repaired?
