I learnt a lot from my concussion recovery - and even though It was hard I take away a lot of positives from it. Here are a few, and I think regardless if you’ve had a concussion or not they are great to take with you in your daily life. Sleep is super important. Its scientifically proven. People that think they are better than you because they sleep 5 hours a day don’t know what they are talking about;) I recommend reading the book: Why We Sleep: The New Science of Sleep and Dreams) its very interesting. Spend time outside. A lot. You don’t need to go go go all the time. Relax. Life is long. The brain needs rest from all the constant impressions. Dance. Eat a handful of walnuts each day. They contain polyphenol compounds that not only reduce oxidation and inflammation in the brain, but also improve signaling between brain cells and increase neurogenesis (the creation of new brain cells). Very cool. Dogs are the best. (This I did know before my concussion but still important to have in this list) Do what makes you happy. Mine is skiing pow. Also soft snow is better for the head. When one door closes another one opens - I quite racing after my concussions. That lead me to big mountain skiing. Best thing ever. Helmets can save lives. It saved mine. #mips
