Paying $5,000/month to be surrounded by people who just moved here when pandemic rents dropped and post “it’s New York or Nowhere” is not only death, it’s the seventh level of hell. Throw in the hopping over piles of human excrement and running from junkies like your very own Walking Dead episode, or playing Guess Which Person is Going to Randomly Attack or Rob Me, and the value increases. But wait, there’s more. Politics. Nobody does corruption and backwards crime prevention like New York City.
