On the 14th to the 16th of August, 2024. I was invited to join a training session to facilitate and support my role as a Ghana Grows ambassador. Ghana Grows is a youth lead program that Inspires young people to discover career opportunities and support them in pursuing decent and fufiling jobs in Agriculture, Agri Business and the Technical and Vocation Skills Sector of Ghana. This program aims at fighting the misconceptions about Agriculture and ATVET and to encourage young people to become part and parcel of the Agric Value chain and the Agricultural sector. Key learning points during the training : 1. Being an Agri - Ambassador is the first step to taking the information directly to the youth. 2. Exploring Agribusiness, ATVET, AgriTech and Agriprenuership is the second step to gaining necessary information to equip the youth in the sector they are about to join. 3. Becoming effective rotators, good leaders as well as reference points for the youth in their respective communities is the third step to ensuring that youth are regarded as the right source of information when it comes to the Agricultural sector and its benefits. To wrap it up, we were adviced to read, learn and educate everyone around us about the benefits of being directly involved in the process that ensures the feeding and nourishment of our nation. We ended the training with an excursion to a mushroom farm located in Accra where Madam Esinam talked us through her modes and methods of farming mushrooms to the buying stage..
