"This was my second short film and my first shooting on film. It was really important to me that we shot on film, not only so that I could gain the experience first-hand, but also because nostalgia and memory are embedded into the film as a central theme, which naturally lends itself to the texture that film brings. There's lots of tension in the film- lots of things not said when maybe they should be, so Matt had to keep things close and tight- the actors facial expressions say more than the dialogue does. I think sometimes shooting on film can be seen as a bit of a gimmick, although having had the experience now, I'd never go back to shooting digitally. All it means is greater planning, and I don't think any of us felt stifled creatively- if another take needs to be done, then it will be- but that's what rehearsals and planning ahead of time are there for!"
