Miss World Cayman Islands annual EnviroWalk - Finalists raise money to protect the environment The Miss World Cayman Islands Organisation held the third annual EnviroWalk, a 5k walk/ run fundraiser, on 26th June in West Bay. EnviroWalk is an annual fundraising event, run by Miss World Cayman Islands and Girl Power Limited, a non-for-profit organisation that trains and mentors young women between the ages of 15 and 27 free of charge. Each year, proceeds from the walk/run go toward a local non-for-profit organisation that is working to help bring awareness and protection to the Environment. This year reigning Miss World Cayman Islands, Rashana Hydes and His Excellency Governor Martyn Roper lead the 5k walk/run in a friendly competition. The proceeds from this year’s fundraiser will go to The Cayman Islands Mangrove Rangers, who monitor the ecological health of the mangrove systems in the Cayman Islands and aim to highlight their importance. Mangrove forests serve as one of the most valuable coastal ecosystems on the planet offering many natural services that protects humanity’s best interest. However, due to climate change these ecosystems are depleting rapidly with the Cayman Islands having lost 3,900 acres of mangrove forests since 1970. We are so proud of the Rashana and the Miss World Cayman Islands Organisation for supporting such an important cause and all the hard work they continue to do for Beauty with a Purpose. @missworldcayman @rashanahydes #MissWorld #MissWorldCaymanIslands2021 #MissWorldCayman #beautywithapurpose #BWAP #mwo #envirowalk #climatechange #caymanislandsmangroverangers #environment
