Just a few weeks ago, Reena and Joseph, who are both battling cancer, were able to bring their family to Oahu for a vacation for the books. Through @Dream_foundation’s Dreams for Veterans program, in partnership with Turo, the family’s trip to Hawaii was unexpectedly packed with meaningful, genuine offerings from the heart. With their kids Jasmine and Jacob, and extended family attending, Joseph and Reena renewed their vows overlooking the Pacific at the Aulani Resort & Spa (they’re big Disney fans). “It was such an emotional experience,” Reena said, “by the end of the ceremony, even all of the staff were crying.” On top of that, they were treated to a private tour of the Pearl Harbor National Memorial — Joseph is a US Navy veteran, and hadn’t had the opportunity to visit and pay his respects at the memorial. He had the honor of raising the flag there, and the whole experience was full of “the kind of personal touches you can’t even dream about, much less ask for,” Joseph said.
