Good To Be Good is 4 today!! What began as an informal initiative of friends donating essential goods for local shelters in lieu of birthday/christmas gifts, soon transformed into something bigger than us. This grassroots nonprofit has evolved into a platform where our “small yet mighty” acts of kindness transformed compassion in action; our responsibility into collective will; and our love for humanity expressed by supporting women and those underserved. I hoped that with @goodtobegoodfoundation, we could fulfill our duty as compassionate and resilient human beings by directing our attention to every aspect of human suffering and the yawning social inequities that plague our communities—because our liberation is bound together. A commitment to ensure we all do something to build a kinder, more just, equitable world that affords ALL people, including the protection of women's and girls' fundamental rights. And we could do this right now, as we are, with what we have. Between 9 fundraising events to our human rights awareness campaigns and our ongoing programs, our work has expanded, adjusted, grown, all the while responding year-round to the injustices that affect our historically marginalized neighbours and communities on a grassroots level. Every contribution, every ounce of solidarity has helped us deliver hands-on, restorative support for those who have felt the effects of gender-based violence, abuse, social isolation, poverty, and socio-economic inequality. As a people-powered organization, we’re able to serve directly as we devote our work to advocate for change and address issues that derail gender equity. With the continued support from our generous and caring community, we can do this work.
