Aerial drills demonstrate capability to shield the Alliance from any threat 🛡️ Seven Air Forces from across the Alliance joined their aircraft and ground systems in Romania to conduct combined air-to-ground drills. In the skies above Romania, more than 20 NATO fighter jets, tankers and early warning aircraft took part, as well as ground-based air defence systems. The complex training event helped to ensure multinational teams on the ground and crews in the air can work together and respond if the Alliance was threatened. Local Romanian aircraft were joined by French and German jets deployed from their home bases. They linked up with US fighter aircraft from the US Harry S. Truman aircraft carrier currently sailing in the Adriatic Sea. The formation simulated engagements with Belgian and Spanish fighter jets and the French surface-based air defence system.
